Reverend John Jordan
Reverend John Samuel Jordan is the son of the late George E. Jordan and Lillian B. Young. He was raised in Chesapeake City, Maryland and later moved to Middletown, Delaware, where he was raised by his sister and her husband, the Reverend Luther L. and the late Alice Walker. He graduated from Middletown High School and earned his Associates Degree from Williamson School of Technology. Reverend John is the youngest of ten(10) siblings. Reverend John is currently employed with W. L Gore & Associates in Elkton, Maryland and has been there for over 30 years.
He is married to Carmen R. Waters Jordan, they have one daughter, Nakiya and a granddaughter, NaRiyah.
Reverend John preached his initial sermon on Sunday, June 9, 2013, from Proverbs 18:20-21, titled “Watch your Mouth.” He was ordained a Deacon with local relations on March 6, 2016, at the Delaware Annual Conference. While attending the Delaware Conference Institute he was given the name John from Middletown by the late Reverend James Foster because he said he looked like a traveling evangelist. On March 25, 2018 at the Delaware Annual Conference he was ordained an Elder in local relations. During the 2022 Delaware Annual Conference, Reverend Jordan was presented to the conference to change his orders to the itinerant track.
A disciple of Trinity African Methodist Episcopal Church, Middletown, Delaware, where he accepted the call to ministry under the leadership of the Reverend Dr. Natalie P. Alford. Reverend John served under the leadership of the Reverend Marcus DeAngelo Briddell until the 2022 Delaware Annual Conference. On March 19, 2022, he was ordained an Intinerant Elder and was appointed the proud Pastor of Byrd’s African Methodist Episcopal Church in Clayton DE.
Reverend Jordan was appointed by Presiding Elder Richard H. Worthy as the supply Pastor of Star Hill African Methodist Episcopal Church in Dover, DE, in August of 2019, where he coined the phrase “Everybody is a star but Jesus Christ is the main attraction”. He will never forget his first love.
Reverend John believes in the power of prayer and has seen the mighty hand of God work through prayer. His passion is the Senior Saints where he will sit, talk, and pray with them for hours.
Reverend John is an ordinary brother with an extraordinary desire to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His favorite scripture is Psalm 27:13-14.
